Soap2Day in now streaming The Naked Gun (2025) Review | The Naked Gun, reviewed by Erik Adams.

The Naked Gun is unlikely to overshadow the cop-movie spoofs that inspired it: Liam Neeson tries his damnedest, but is slightly too steely as the moronic Lieutenant Frank Drebin Jr., and most of the big laughs are just modern-day variations on jokes first told in the 1980s (if not earlier). But as discussed in IGN's review of the movie, just because there’s a bit of must on these gags doesn’t mean that they’re not funny – and considering the relatively deserted theatrical comedy landscape of 2025, Akiva Schaffer’s faithful, unapologetically dumb Police Squad! update plays like a big, refreshing gulp from the seltzer bottle. With supporting turns from The Fantastic Four: First Steps scene-stealer Paul Walter Hauser and a never funnier Pamela Anderson, The Naked Gun proudly brings cinematic groaners and slapstick into the 2020s.

It's also makes a strong argument that more new comedies need to play in movie theaters, one of several topics covered in their post-review conversation between IGN Executive Producer, Entertainment Clint Gage and Entertainment Reviews Editor Erik Adams.
