The film tells the life story of Alexander Hamilton, one of America’s Founding Fathers, through a blend of hip-hop, R&B, and traditional show tunes.
The story begins with Hamilton’s early life as an orphan from the Caribbean who arrives in New York City, determined to make a name for himself. He quickly befriends key figures such as Marquis de Lafayette, Hercules Mulligan, John Laurens, and Aaron Burr, though his ambitions often put him at odds with Burr’s cautious approach.
Hamilton becomes George Washington’s aide-de-camp during the Revolutionary War, where his brilliance in strategy and writing helps shape the fight for independence. On the battlefield, he proves his leadership at the Battle of Yorktown, playing a decisive role in the American victory.
Alongside his political rise, Hamilton’s personal life unfolds. He marries Eliza Schuyler, forming a strong bond with her family, though his close connection with Eliza’s sister Angelica suggests deeper feelings left unspoken. Despite his devotion to work and country, Hamilton struggles with pride, impulsiveness, and an unrelenting drive for legacy.
After the Revolution, Hamilton helps design the nation’s financial system as the first Secretary of the Treasury, clashing with Thomas Jefferson and James Madison over the direction of the young republic. His passionate debates with Jefferson highlight their stark differences: Hamilton advocates for a strong central government, while Jefferson champions states’ rights and agrarian values.
Hamilton’s flaws surface in his personal life when he becomes entangled in the nation’s first major political scandal, confessing to an affair with Maria Reynolds to protect his political career. This damages his marriage with Eliza and tarnishes his public reputation. Tragedy strikes again when his eldest son, Philip, dies in a duel defending his father’s honor.
The story culminates with the fateful rivalry between Hamilton and Aaron Burr. Their political and personal conflicts intensify over the years, ultimately leading to their duel in Weehawken, New Jersey. Hamilton fires his shot into the air, but Burr fatally wounds him.
In the aftermath, Eliza takes center stage. She lives for another fifty years, carrying on Hamilton’s legacy by preserving his writings, championing his contributions, and establishing charitable works, including an orphanage. Through her voice, the story closes with a reflection on Hamilton’s enduring impact and the question of who tells one’s story after death. #hamilton
The film begins with a flashback to 1964, where Ed and Lorraine Warren encounter a haunted mirror in a curio shop. When Lorraine touches it, she collapses and is rushed to the hospital, where she gives birth to their daughter, Judy. Though Judy appears to be stillborn, she miraculously survives.
Years later, in 1986, the Smurl family moves into a Pennsylvania home and unknowingly plants the same cursed mirror in their house. Soon, they experience terrifying paranormal disturbances—disembodied voices, apparitions, electrocutions, and horrifying visions, including shards of glass manifesting inside one of their daughters.
Meanwhile, Judy Warren, now older, begins having visions connected to Annabelle and an ominous elderly woman. Her psychic abilities grow stronger, pulling the Warrens back into the supernatural world. Father Gordon, a trusted ally, tragically succumbs to demonic influence, leaving the family shaken.
The Warrens reunite to help the Smurls and discover that the cursed mirror is the source of the haunting. With Judy’s abilities playing a crucial role, the family confronts the malevolent entity in a climactic exorcism. Through faith, determination, and Lorraine’s psychic strength, they destroy the mirror and banish the demon. The artifact is later secured in the Warrens’ Occult Museum to prevent further harm.
The film closes with a heartfelt epilogue: Judy marries Tony Spera in a ceremony filled with warmth and hope, offering a bittersweet farewell to the Warrens’ saga and symbolizing the end of their legacy in the Conjuring Universe. #theconjuring
